New York is the capital of the world, but when it comes to finding an actual brewery on Manhattan, it’s close to impossible.  Heartland has a few locations, but of course the one in the city was more of a taproom.  They brew that beer elsewhere.  On top of their being so few breweries due to high costs, this results in even higher costs for the customers.  This is New York City after all!  These prices may be normal for NYC, but they seemed extraordinary to me.  A flight of beer, French fries and gratuity totaled $30!  Yikes!

I did enjoy the beers.  The hefeweizen was my least favorite.  I had very low expectations for their light beer, but I felt like this was one of the best light beers I have ever had.  Their oatmeal stout was apparently an award winner, but it was just ok for me.  The Red Rooster Ale was certainly my favorite.

The brewery/bar did not strike me as anything too exciting.  I can’t say anything bad about it, but it was just like being in any other bar anywhere.  In a place like New York City there are hundreds of places with cooler, unique vibes.  However, if you’re a guy like me, and want to try a brewery then you must come to Heartland.
