Originally this place was not on my radar in Hong Kong. Whenever I am in a new city, I shut out the bars and stores to concentrate on visiting he breweries. The way I see it, if it is in a bar then I can find it elsewhere, but if it is brewed in a brewery then this could be my only opportunity to drink it. With that being said, I wasn’t having the best of luck with breweries in Hong Kong. I was really disappointed with Tipping Point Brewing and a couple of others did not have tap rooms. With time running out in Hong Kong I decided to make a stop at HK Brewcraft.

It was my final day in the city and I had a few hours before I needed to head to the airport. I sat down in my hostel and figured out the subway lines I would need to take. Next I found HK Brewcraft on my map, but since I would not have internet on the streets, I took a screen shot to at least have a picture of the cross streets.

Now my journey had begun. I successfully took the correct subways to the correct places. I exited the tunnel in the correct place. I walked in the correct direction and made the correct turns. I knew I was a few hundred meters away, and that’s when this became disastrous. Factor in the enormity of the heat and humidity while I was running around looking for this place and it was getting painful. This was a total concrete jungle in which streets ran in curves rather than perpendicular to one another and each one was five flights or more. HK Brew craft could be anywhere. I must have gone past it so many times back and forth until I finally realized that I had arrived, but there was no signage to let me know I had to enter a building and go up a few floors.

I finally arrived at HK Brewcraft and I was greeted by two people working there that were in the middle of a brew and preparing to teach a class. They were very friendly and talked to me about many different styles of Hong Kong beer. Although it wasn’t a brewery, it gave me the opportunity to sample many beers from many Hong Kong breweries all in one place. I really enjoyed the selection of the bottles!
