This was my second visit to the Biscayne Tavern.  Both times I have dined here, it was before a Heat game.  For this kind of experience this was a great place because the price of parking was less expensive than if I had parked in a lot for the game, and the restaurant was only a short walking distance to the arena.

I was a bit let down this time with the beer menu.  I guess my memory was wrong, but I had imagined Biscayne Tavern having an even larger beer menu.  My entire reason for coming here was to enjoy the beer options.  However, maybe I should take some of the blame because to the majority of beer lovers, Biscayne Tavern will be wonderful for them as they really do have a decent amount of selections and a large assortment from Dogfish to Funky Buddha to Goose Island.  I have been fortunate enough to have tried thousands of beers so when I go to a beer bar I hope and expect to find brews that I have never tried before.
Biscayne Tavern offers a pretty good happy hour special with discounts on many of its appetizers and half price on wines and beers.  On my first visit I loved everything I ate.  This time I was a bit disappointed with the calamari.  Not only was the flavor average, but it is served in a bucket and seemingly overflowing.  But after only a few bites you discover that only 10% of the bucket has calamari while the rest is just stuffed with lettuce.  The meatloaf and blue cheese potatoes were delicious!

The atmosphere here is great!  You can look out and people watch those walking by in downtown Miami.  There are tons of televisions everywhere always showing sports games.  The bar stools are much more comfortable than your average bar chair.  They have huge chalkboards with humorous beer quotes such as “I only drink beer on days that end in Y”.
